Just received news that my Uncle Chuck was in a trucking accident, and from what I overheard this is the story
-Driving his truck (1989 Peterbuilt) Around a bend in a narrow road with no shoulder. On both sides of the road there was a ditch about 2 feet deep and then a berm next to that. My uncle fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the ditch then up over the berm- His truck ended up on it's side... then wil still in motion on his side- the truck slides into a powerline pole, knocking it down, and the live wires fell onto the truck (he says he remembers hearing arcing and seeing flashes indicating that the conductor was touching the truck and using it as a ground).Here is where it gets amazing, about a half mile down the road they were doing construction, and between the time he ran off the road and came to a halt- to the time he actually stepped out of the wreckage they shut power to the lines off!  He was completely unharmed, he says at the last second he ducked down behind the steering wheel when he saw the pole coming( he could do so because he was not wearing his seatbelt)... Someone was watching over him because you can see the entire top of the cab is toasted... just where his head would have been.... The only thing i can say is WOW, someone was watching over him today- he would have either been squashed or fried. but he came out of this wreck completely uninjured
