Choosing motor for mm revo on 4s -
03.31.2009, 10:27 PM
I just sealed the deal on an e-revo roller.(trade) 125 dollars goes a long ways.
I have a mamba max I want to use and I am ordering a zippy 4s 30c flightmax for it. All I need is a motor. I wonder if the cc-neu 2650 or 2200 would do good? I might step up to a better esc and higher voltage in the future... I was thinking cc/neu, medusa, something used (neu)... Any suggestions? I am thinking around 2500kv is a good of to run at, am I right?

I'm running the MMM, but I'm sure the MM would handle my E Revo setup.
I couldn't be happier with how this runs! Can't wait to get it to the track and spank some Nitros.
MMM with Traxxas Mount! LOL
Vislera 5000mah 20C
Medusa 36-60-2000kv
Mod 1 Gearing 18/52
Traxxas CVD's
This motor could handle taller gearing, but setup like this, it's VERY fast to 40mph. Just the way I like it.
Anything more than 40mph is only good for speed runs IMO.
Get a Medusa or a Castle Neu.

Nice score on the revo! On 4s how about a 70 series Medusa 2300kv or 2000kv. Of course, a Neu 1515 1YF 2200kv would do nicely...all beit a bit more $
A mm may be a tad small for that truck though.
You could get a Medusa and a new MMM for a little more than a Neu
1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

I'd get a medusa 60mm and try to keep the truck light.

I think the medusa 36/60-2200 looks really good right now. The 60-2000 is also good, along with a 70/2000.... I'll be on the lookout for a used one too.
Once I get my lipo I'll be less then 100 bucks,,, I might sell the revo and get a jato to..... I could streach my dollar even further if I can find a good deal on a jato roller.

I have a stretched chassis jato roller that I would be willing to part with... Pm me if you want... I will even do a trade for the erevo, and sweeten the deal with something else for ya.

The MM might be too small. They get hot running big trucks, even when you're not near the 100A rating.
Personally I like the revo more than the jato.

the mm will run anything imo lol, i raced my 8th scale buggy and truggy for almost a year on mm's, they only run around 140-150 even on the hottest days!

The MM used to be the esc of choice for the revo. Even now, there are lots of people running a mm/fiegao combo. I guess a Medusa may be more power hungy then a fiegao, but I do not doubt the MM's ability. Did you guys see the guy running 6s on his mm with a tekno Neu in an 8ight? That was pushing it....

the Castle 2200 would be perfect for the revo, My 2200 can lift the front wheels on my truggy with 10k in the center diff (on 4s). Its a beast. I highly recommend this motor :)

The MM can work if running on 4s with a less current-demanding motor but by the time you get the UBEC and a MM, you are about the same price point as a MMM, which is better suited for larger vehicles. People were using the MM on larger vehicles simply because it was the cheapest decent solution for an ESC.

You'll NEED a fan and BEC to run the MM with 4s on the revo. I used one most of last season in mine. Without the fan, I would thermal a lot. I use the medusa 60 with mine.

Well I ordered my zippy 4s and a ubec for $6 or something. I'll get some caps and maybe a fan too. I might be getting a used medusa 36-60-2000, we'll see how it goes. if that doesn't work its cc/neu or medusa 2200kv for me!

Another option if I may add.
I run a 2.5R conversion, with a MMM 2650 on 3 and 4s geared 20/40. I love it! Great power, fast speeds, cool temps. I bought it originally for my Jammin X1 conversion, but it went in the Revo and never came out.
