What to do with a 1509 1.5d? -
05.14.2009, 03:33 PM
So I just picked up a lightly used 1509 1.5d (4500kv) off a boat guy. It is the smooth can model with a 5mm shaft.
Wondering what to put it in? I was thinking a hyper mini ste would be a decent vehicle, leave it with the stock length chassis and run the 10th scale buggy tires.
Or put it in my 2wd pede based 1/7th scale buggy (older members will remember this) but gearing it low enough on 3s may be difficult. I have a 9l in it right now and it was plenty of grunt to almost do wheelies even geared for 55mph.
Or I could try to shoehorn it into a touring car... Like the 4 tec on 3s...

Any smaller/lighter car would work great with that motor. The 4tec is a good candidate, as well as the CRT.5... pretty much anything on 2s or 3s.

A guy at my LHS has that motor in his rustler with mod1 gearing. He's knocking on SunnyHouTX's 90mph runs as we speak...

Not trying to kill anything, just knock the bottom out of something specific. (god knows where you guys will go with that last statement)

Wed night? Ahh, to be young again. I used to go to the city every wed night for ladies night uptown. Some of the Tulane bars did free drinks for the ladies, and they were always packed. Good times. Do not think I have ever been drunk enough to pass out during that "situation"... Too much at stake!
