20c 5000mAh Flightmax in LST2 Conversion? - 05.14.2009, 05:49 PM

hi,

i´m doing a lst2 conversion.
i use the castle 2200 combo.
the car is heavy, think 7kg.

i got 5s 5000mah 20c Flightmax lipos from hobbyc.

will these lipos work fine for me or are these too small (20c)

C rating is a little low for the motor. You need something more like 25c on a 5000mah pack. But with burst ratings it may still be okay, it will just be close. I would keep an eye on the pack temps for sure.

ok, i will.
i will set the satart power to low in mmm menü.

is it possible i break it if the amperes will raise the 150a burst rate?
or will the lipo just get warm?

If you plan to run 4s, they will not keep up. If you go to 5s they should be good for about 40mph, if you go to 6s you can gear up a little higher.

Thats really fast for such a big truck..

The Flightmax's will handle it fine.

Ah, Burnsi from rcindependent, right?

I also got a LST, converting it to Brushless, and will run 5S (maybe 6S) Zippy Flightmax 5000mAh 30C, I'll order them this week. I already got motor and ESC (MMM 2200kv combo)

So if you wait a few weeks (2 or 3) I can tell you how those 30C LiPos will perform... But if you don't want to; just buy them!

That's what I will be running in my LST2 I just picked up as well.

2200 combo but on 6s. I will start geared around 50 I think.

Seems like everyone is jumping on the lst bandwagon...

On 5s they should be fine. The 30c cells would be preferable, if you can get them.

yes :)

ok, here is my first test.
i use 1 flightmax 5s 20c und clued the dx3s heat sensor on it.

12 min up and down the street with maximum grip gives me a temp of 27°C for the lipo.

i think this is a good sign, i think on out recetrack with less grip it will not go highter than 40°C

Your "rave" reviews helped. Also the revo has been pissing me off lately. Final straw is I could not pass up the deal I got.

220 shipped with TDR Single Speed Hub and TDR Collet Pinion Adapter. Also had other extras.

my conversion is almost done too, i`ll be running MMM 2200 combo on 5S 4800mah and 4900mah with FOC Gear swap using stock gearing (25/63) and tires.
the speed calculator is saying a Theoretical speed of close to 50Mph which is fine with me :P
these are TOUGH trucks they can take it
