Stock? - 01.22.2006, 12:43 PM

Hi!
What really means a stock motor? Is it related to the # of turns?
Or fixed timing?Any reference for learning about the electric categories?
Thanks:devil

It is not about the number of turns, but a stock motor has a fixed timing which you cant adjust. The fastest of these motors belong to Mike Reedy including the 19T Quad motor. Reedy has a 17T stock motor, too.

If you are referring to a stock motor as in ROAR rules and regulations, the specifications are:
27 turn
fixed 24degree timing
removable end bell or fixed end bell
bushings only (no bearings)
ROAR XX must be stamped in the can (XX being the year of mfg)
the armature must have the mfg name and "27" stamped on it

Plus a whole bunch of other stuff.
If this is your question, check out www.roarracing.com and look at the rulebook starting on page 35.

Actually, I don't belong to any of the sanctioning bodies. All my racing has been for fun at the club level.
Maybe once my kids are grown up a little more I will have time to travel for events and I'll join up then. In the meantime I only have the opportunity to travel to my local track, since I enjoy spending time with my family so much :)

That's the real essence of this hobby. You enjoy your time without neglecting your dear family. Good for you, Joe.
