Hi, I'm Mike, and I have THE WORST LUCK EVER!!! - 06.07.2009, 10:21 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I went through 2 or 3 V1 MMM's. Then I went through 2 or 3 V2's, one of which actually fried a $150 digital servo. Castle figured out they had problems. So they sent me a V3 just in time for winter. I even used it a few times with no problems. All was great. Then it died on me one day, just the same way the V2 did. They said it was some super rare random oddball problem. So they sent me a new one. When I got it back, I threw it on ebay, as I'm done with Castle (yes, I know everyone loves them, I know they're great people, and I know I've been through like 6 controllers).

Which brings me to Tekin. Ah, the RX8 combo. It never breaks. No one has problems with it. It's made SOOOO much better. Yet, it seemed awfully spastic when I used it. had to be a setting right?

Within 2 minutes the rotor failed. I am, once again, stuck with a charged lipo pack, and nothing to run it in. In fact, most of the times that I have charged my pack(s), I used them for under 2 minutes, and had to discharge them for hours because of a dead ESC. IIRC, didn't I sell EVERY piece of nitro stuff I own because BL was zero maintenance???

I now despise this hobby. I give it 2 more times. If 2 more of these die on me, I'm selling everything I own (except my indestructible BL Micro T and blade MCX), and just buying that new 67" TV I want. Screw this man.

You do have some poor luck... I have alot of rc vehicles, and find that sometimes I just need to shift my focus a bit to enjoy the hobby. Maybe get yourself a crawler or small heli and try that out for a bit. Seems like absence makes my heart grow fond of the stuff that previously ticked me off....

crawlers don't interest me. I have a small heli (mcx - very fun). It's hard to grow fond of something that you STILL haven't really used! I've had this setup since March of 2008. It's nearly the middle of June 2009, and I've only used it a handful of times. It's getting hopeless; I thought BL was bulletproof assuming it was set up and used properly. I now believe it's significantly worse than nitro.

I have had good success myself. At least 12 MM escs, and I have 5 MMM escs. I have sent 2 back so far. And I modded another to remove the Bec. Maybe you should go with something else? Try tekin.

I DID!! That's what broke THIS TIME!!! NOW do you see why I'm going nuts?!?!?! I can't afford to buy anything else; I'll spare everyone my sob story, but I can really afford only one 1/8 scale vehicle.

Tekin motors are having some rotor issues. Its actually not that uncommon to hear of a faild Tekin rotor. Call Tekin tomorrow and they will ask you to email them a picture and they will priority mail a new rotor out to you. Tekins service has been really good for everyone so far. Don't despair. they just got a new shipment of rotors with a new and improved assembly method so the problems should be gone once you get this fixed.

All I can tell you is I have yet to have an RC of any type, nitro or electric that was totally trouble free. these things just are the way they are.

BTW: I returned WAY more MMMs than you did. Finally found 3 that were good. Then I started the cycle again with the Tekin stuff.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Sometimes - 06.08.2009, 12:21 AM

Sometimes it is just a good idea to take a step back and leave things alone for a while. Focusing on just one thing can drive anyone crazy. Especially if your having bad luck with it. Sorry for your bad moment in time, but life is too short to let your hobby piss you off. Just change gears and go in a differnet direction for the time being. Take up bikini watching this summer and get back to R/C in the fall or winter. Its supposed to be fun, not frustrating. Going through so many MMM's from the sounds of things is pretty much the norm right now, but as Castle upgrades and improves things will improve just like it always does. The RX8 has been getting rave reviews and doing pretty well, but even they are going to have failures to deal with from time to time. LIFE IS GOOD. Take a deep breath, and let it go. Tomorrow will still come.

Thats my point, who doesn't? I knew that would get your attention James. Sometimes you just need a break, right??? We all need cheering up from time to time. Don't let the little shit get you down. If you want to be successful in life you have to just let it go, and move forward. Find the positive facet in every situation and just keep pushing forward. Besides the end will come soon enough so why dwell on bad things. Just look for brighter days. A few bad MMM's is nothing when you think about some poor kid out there who will go to bed tonight without having anything to eat, because he lost both his parents in a bombing, and has no visible means of support. So whats your next move now??? There is some poor lonely female out there in her bikini who needs you to hold her and make her feel better. I bet that will make you forget about your luck with ESC's???

PS: Hey James love the new avitar. That looks more like what I would have pictured you anyway.

If she can pull off wearing a bikini she will not be lonely for long...

Yeah, somtimes you need to take a step back and take some time off from rc. If it is not working out give it a rest and when you feel better and have more positive focus you can work out the bugs. Send everything back to the mfgs, and enjoy the next few weeks doing other projects or just enjoy the summer weather.

Like a lot of other guys I have got a bunch of different rcs to get frustrated with and work on constantly. Never are they all in running condition at the same time. Usually waiting on a part or motivation to tear into another differential or whatever needs fixed. I have the luck of having the same thing go wrong or same parts breaking. Same thing wrong on different rcs come in waves for me. Last month was the differential month. Didn't have problems with other parts on the rcs but had to replace 6 beveled ring gears and some internal gears in the Savage, one in ring gear in the G3R and the ring gear in the STRR. The month before that was servo month. Went through 6 servos that month. 3 due to a cc bec not working and frying them. A couple cheap stock DST servo and my first HiTec 59xxTG died on me after a long and steady relationship with it. Month before that was axles and bearings. There's always something breaking, it nice to have a place like this to come into and let it off your chest. You'll find out that your not alone in your frustration. This hobby is filled with frustration but it's suppose to build character and patience. Reminds me of the poster back in the late 70's with the two vultures perched in the desert and the caption reads... Patience my ASS! I'm gonna kill something!

Anyways your not alone and when you get a few spare bucks. Start puttng together a nice little 1/10th scale rc. Rustlers parts are cheap off ebay. The rustlers are durable, and can be fast as as you can afford, but still fun to run. What nice about more then one rc is when I get frustrated with one. I can fall back on old faithful (usually my Rusty or FLM Maxx) and go out and have some fun. I don't know if I could hanlde having just one of these and always waiting on something so I could have fun. Felt that way with my Savage waiting on parts and all the problems I had in the beginning with it. Sticking with it pays off though, when you get all the bugs worked out. In your case with the esc it may be finding the pearl in the oyster. But when you do all there is left is to get your money out of your lipos. The forums are great to get your frustration off your chest. It's not like the guys at work understand the pia it is to pull apart the differential, wait for a part, put it together, tear it apart again, wait on a part , put it back together, tear it aprat again, order two beveled gears this time, breaks again, tear it apart, etc. Plus, linc is a great listner when you just want to bitch about the past month of frustration we've been through. He may try and change the subject, to maybe aviod painful memories, but he's listening and cares believe it or not.

It doesn't cost much, to start collecting the parts for a rustler off ebay. Pick up some arms for .99 cents then a chassis for 1.99. I've done a few rcs that way, ends up being a cheap investment and I always have a reason to check the mailbox. Mailman pokes fun at me becuase I will just grab the package and leave the letters/bills in there for couple days. I feel better now. I was able to complain about how my shit break in waves and get the last three months of breakdowns off my chest. Thanks.

We've all felt like giving up at times, but to not give up is where you will find all the rewards.
