is a hyper 8.5 pro a good brushless project? - 06.18.2009, 08:54 PM

looking at getting a buggy roller to convert, saw steve182's hyper 8.5 pro on here. is this a good project, or more pain than it would be worth. is this buggy durable, i have no experience with 1/8 scale.
thanks for your time

Yep! Hyper 8's are pretty good bashing and fairly decent racing buggies and are worth the time if you want to convert it.

I've had no problems with my Hyper8. Well, aside from bending the chassis when landing a ~15' long ~6' high jump on the edge of a 4X4 piece of lumber smack dab in the middle of the chassis, and a broken front shock tower from an airborne crash into a wall.

have you had any problems getting parts; i see there is little support on the ebay, which is usually a good indicator?

i run a hyper 7, and ebay is where i must turn for all of my parts... best thing to do is get the exploded view pics of your buggy, and type the part numbers into google shopping. Then again, you wont really be breaking much anyways
