Motor / transmission sound - 06.28.2009, 12:54 PM

What's the best way to get a smoother or more silent operating sound? I'm running a neu 1515 heli motor (1100kv) with a v3 MMM on an xray xt8. After stripping a plastic kyosho spur gear, I went back to the metal spur gear, but I notice that the sound isn't really smooth, especially at low speeds. Is this normal? I can make a vid if you want, just wanted to hear some opinions.

I don't want to go back to a plastic spur because I don't want to risk stripping it.

The notchy nature of a Neu motor coupled with steel spur and pinion is gonna be noisy, particularly at low speed. I'm using a Medusa 80mm motor on the same vehicle and I get the same thing.

You can use grease to reduse noise a bit, i use Eureka Pro grease it works but you need to add it before each run, one drop is enought.
