Need ideas for new brushless setup! - 07.07.2009, 07:21 PM

I bought Linc Pimp's 1/8 buggy suspended FLM pede and am trying to figure out a good motor/controller combo for it.

I have an FLM rustler (I plan to sell) that I run a VXL motor and a Mamba Max controller on 3s. The power is good BUT I am planning on running pretty big tires on the 1/8 buggy pede (probably the Badlands MT tires which are 5.8 inches tall/ 2.5 wide). I am worried I will burn up the MM/ VXL motor pretty quick trying to get full runs out of the truck with tires that big.

I only have 3s packs so I would prefer something that runs well on 3s so I dont have to get new packs.

What is a cheap setup for me to run? Maybe a used MMM with a 9XL? What would 3s be like on this setup? Should I go with a higher turn motor since I want to only run 11.1 volts throguh it? I used to run a 9xl with a warrior 9920 on my E-revo a few years back and I remember it had pretty good power (but that was on 16.8 volts of NIMH)

What about one of novaks big sensored systems? Like the Novak HP Pro 7.5T? I am only considering this because of it being sensored.

I want something really torquey but also controllable at both low and high RPM. I dont really plan to "Crawl" per say but sometimes I like to do some 2-5mph stuff over rocks and stuff and dont want a setup that is going to cog or be choppy down low.

Here is a pic with two different sets of tires on it. The Komodo's are 4.4 tall and the Ofna stadium tires are 4.9 tall (so the tires I will be putting on it will be 1 inch wider and 1 inch taller than those ofna stadium tires).
