Cogging again!?!? - 02.05.2006, 07:42 PM

Sorry to bother you about this topic again, but I will like to receive the latest feedback about this. I want to get a brushless system fot 1/10 2wd racing truck but can not decide if go sensorless or sensor based(Novak/LRP) due to the cogging issue. I have seen running the Novak and LRP , neither have cogging. I have a Mamba that cogg as batteries go down(Not with Lipo)
Does your sensorless systems suffer from this? Let say Lehner, Feigao, BK,Nemesis, Hacker, etc.
What are your experiences on this?
Any response will be great.
Thanks:017:

Sensorless is faster.

Sensorless technology is getting better and better, and right now it is quite smooth. In my vehicles, I use a MGM Compro 12012 and a Mtroniks Genesis Truck controller. The MGM cogs at the lowest throttle input I can put in, and the Mtroniks does too, just not quite as bad. But, I don't drive at 1mph, so it isn't a problem for me.

The current sensorless setups are more powerful than what is offered in terms of sensored systems. This is apparent with the high-power systems that are being used in monster trucks, and there is no (known by me) sensored system that can match the power of these sensorless setups.

It's only an issue from a complete standstill, once rolling the throttle control is good enough to win races. You need to feed the power in anyway from a standing start with this kind of power so i don't think it's a problem.basically if you come to a complete standstill many times during a race then i don't think a lack of cogging is gonna help much:005: if you see what i mean.

lol....thats funny gustav. metalman, have you considered the 4.5R gtb system? i have been told it would be comparable to a 6s on 6 cells or 2s lipoly. i think it your worried that much about cogging but you want a fast powerful system go with the novak 4.5.

The only way I'd consider a system like that is if I started racing. I run high voltage, and there's no way that the 4.5R/GTB could compare to my setup (4s Lipo/Feigao 540 12s). At this point, I refuse to run low cell counts.

low cell counts=low power
high cell counts =lots-o-power

boss, thats not necessarily true. it just wont be as efficient at a higher rpm as a higher turn motor on a higher cell count thats gonna turn less rpms and be more efficient. a xl3100 on 12 cells pushed my maxx to 50+ mph.

well it may not be always true but a 9xl on 12 cells would not have as much power as a 9xl on 16 or 18 cells

more cells = more power potential. Always. :)

Good point mike.
a 12 s motor turns 2958 on a 12 cells it turns 42595.
a 6s motor turns 5915 on a 6 cells it turns 42588.
Which one is faster?
I thought it would point out the difference of rpm.

Peace!

The 12s on 12 cells would be faster. Lower amp draw means less voltage drop. Don't forget about the higher efficiency - you can gear higher to get a better top speed.
