Can anyone help me find rims to fit these tires? - 09.19.2009, 02:24 AM

I have some blazer SST tires/wheels.
The wheels that fit the tires are 3.4 diameter and 1.6 width.

I would like to find some beadlock wheels in 17mm to fit these tires but all I can find are 3.2 diameter wheels. 40 series are too big (would require a LOT of sidewall cutting).

I did find these which are 3.82 and 2.17 width.

If I cut off the original bead on the tires (which mount like revo tires, the bead going parallel with the top of the wheel) it would be a straight down sidewall/bead like a typical tire which I think I could then mount on these wheels?

Would take a little cutting to get the right diamater but I think it would work out ok? Judging by the difference in diameter (3.82 vs 3.4 tire diameter) If I cut .2 all the way around (pretty much the original bead off) they should fit snugly around these wheels.

The original wheels are 1.6 wide and these are 2.17. Since ill be cutting off the original bead area (which narrows in toward the center of the tire) Im pretty sure I will gain about .2-.25 width or so per side which should make mounting on the 2.17 width wheels ok (1.6 + .5 = 2.1).

Any other ideas for me?

The wheels that I have for these tires are old and are not trued (have a wobble in them) so I dont want to waste the tires by gluing them down knowing the wheels/tires will never run true. Problem is these are really oddly sized tires/wheels so I cant find anything that I can mount them on off the shelf. The tire height/width is perfect for this application so I REALLY want to use these tires! Nothing else out there has similar specs that I have found (4.9 height, 2.7 width).

Thanks
Mike
