Tire and wheel balancing - 02.18.2006, 04:26 PM

How many of you go to the trouble of balancing your wheel and tire sets and if so how do you do it. I seem to remember an article some time ago talking about this and am just curious cause I've never done it and wondering if it makes much of a differnece.

Does it make a difference. Off balance'd wheel's suck when driving, kill's wheel bearing's pretty fast too due to rototianal force. Make's the whole truck fibrate like crazy.

I'm not pretty good at balancing tire's, but i'm sure someone else is.

It would seem you need too, but I've never done it and think I'll give it a try. I just want to know what to use for balancing weights. I've heard of people taping pennies to the inside of the wheels to balance them but my set never seem that out of balance.

hey mike nice to meet you , a mate of mine has always done it. i actually need to myself. first go and buy a propeller balancer , there very cheap. put your wheel on , spin a few times till you keep finding the heavy spot and glue something on there till its balanced. hey presto you are now are certified tyre balancer. rc car action ran an article about it a year or so saying that an unbalanced wheel can rob 3 to 4 mphr. i have seen this method used and it works great.

You need to glue the screw to the opposite side of the heavy spot. If you glue to heavy spot it will make it worse.

Peace!
