Some Q's on the quark BEC

I got a quark relatively cheap and out of warranty so I figured it's the ideal specimen to do the mod.

My question is more related to the bec. I will be running 5s lipo and 6s2p A123 so I should use an external bec right? Can I direct solder a fan to the + and - of the reciever tabs? So the power would go to the fan not the reciever ( and pull the middle wire at the reciever end ).

With the fan drawing from the internal bec would it over work it because it's above the recommended voltage ( instructions say to use external bec when using more than 4s lipo )?

Finally, could I use the internal bec to power both the fan and the reciever safely?

Any help would be appreciated.

In larger vehicles where steering currents are quite a bit higher, you should run an external BEC on anything over 2s or 7-8 NiMH cells. Any higher and the BEC heats up too much. Just remove the red wire on the throttle cable, and use an external BEC. The servos, fans, receiver will all be running off the external BEC that way.

i think he said he wants to run the fan off the internal BEC and the servos off the external one.

fan amp draws are very low, and it shouldn't be a problem at all.

You will need an external BEC to power the rx and servo, meaning its kinda pointless keeping the internal BEC to power the fan. Since the fan will be ~6v, it makes more sense to get one with an rx plug and plug it straight into the rx too; still need to disable the built in BEC by pulling the red wire from the escs's rx lead.
