like EVERYONE at the local track uses them to charge stuff.

but here's a tip..
go to the local tip (called the dump over there?) and find the used battery pile.
pick out all the blue batts, the marine ones because they are changed out anualy.
now take out your multimeter and look for anything above 12.6v
if you find one showing that or above that value, either "liberate" it or give the tip guys a few $$ to take it off their hands.
and wu-la, new field battery.

we did this and now have 2 marine grade starting batteries to power field equiptment, they also come in handy to start ye' ol' tractor from time to time. (cant beat 500 CCA)

well i happen to know that them starter packs only have a couple of SLA batteries.
the cables comming out of it are simply for show only as the internal batteries are NEVER going to have enough juice to make use of the cables.
go to a battery shop, get yourself either a 20AH gell cell/SLA, car battery or 2-3 of the common 7AH 12v gell cells and wire in parallel.

If a car battery is to heavy then how about something like a riding lawn mower battery? Here in the US they can be purchased for $30-40 and they are about 1/2 the size of a car battery. Way more capacity than what's in a jump box and it's not much heavier than a jump box with all the extra crap they put on them things.
