I know yer not supposed to turn the radio off before you turn the ESC off, but I accidentally did this today, and it caused me MAJOR grief!

I wrecked my E-Jato last week and broke one of my Alum links. I finally got those all replaced yesterday, and spend hours dialing in my vehicle. I got my
3s lipo all charged up and ready to go too. I'm running a VXL motor and ESC, and using a Spektrum DX2.0 radio and receiver. But for some reason with THIS set up, if you turn the radio off before you turn the ESC off, the truck takes off full throttle in reverse! I learned this the hard way this morning... when literally seconds into my run, I accidentally turned my radio off, the truck shot off in reverse like a rocket, and slammed into of all things, a concrete block, breaking my rear arm! So... my test run was ruined immediately!

This has happened to me before, with different results. Normally, my veh's won't take off like a shot though. What could be causing this to happen???

It sounds like the run away feature built into the Rx.
It is programmable on my spectrum to go to neutrel.
It has been a long time since did this.
If you run nitro is is made to apply the break.
With the BL it goes full reverse.

When you calibrate your transmitter, make sure your throttle is neutral.
Thing you described is fail safe in action. Just re-calibrate your receiver to transmitter and follow instructions!

I have Spektrum and VXL, and i continuously turn transmitter off first when truck tires are not touching ground to check that fail-safe.
Well im too lazy to take body off to cut power...

Yep... that's it! I need to recalibrate.. .but it's set up to use the Failsafe for when I run my Revo 3.3! Wow.. learn something new every day. I'll look into how to do it. I think it's just as you said... make sure I'm in neutral, and recalibrate to this receiever. But what is weird is that I'm not on the same "saved setting" that my Revo uses. This is the setting for my "E" vehicles. So i'm shocked that it did this, but that is for sure what is going on. Thanks!

Yup, you have to have the steering and throttle in the position you want when you bind the radio to the receiver. This is what the receiver will default to if it loses signal. I usually set the throttle to neutral and steering to full right or left (in case the ESC still goes nuts, all it will do is go in circles).
