cant get the novak xrs to have breaking?..

hey guys im trying to get a buddies old rustler up and running and ive fixed it all and put it back together but cant get any breaking or reverse going on the esc....

ive done the programming that the manual sais (xrs sport reversible)

but it just doesnt work.

when i push for it to break it blinks green like it should? but no breaking.

could it be my motor that im using? some old crappy brushed motor

would a video help?

problem with the speed control?

any help would be awesome
