Quick revo conversion question - 11.24.2009, 08:47 PM

My motor finally came for my conversion, I have the RC-M motor mount.
It is a traxxas 38 spur, and a 32 pitch 17t 5mm pinion. Even with a loose mesh the pinion and spur are really loud and choppy against each other. Just wondering if this is anything to be worried about?

Also adjusting the mesh to get it where you want it is a HUGE PITA. As soon as you tighten the motor screws the motor moves

Well im stupid... The e-revo has 32p spurs and the NITRO revo has MOD1 spurs....

Dang! I hope the hobby shop has the right pinion.
Oh well, the pinion from hobby city was only $2.

Yes, that is your problem. You may be able to fit a 54t jato spur on there, not sure if you would have to trim anything... Getting a mod 1 pinion would be the best bet.

Yeah, thanks for the reply.
Here are some recent pics of my build.

Hobbycity order came in, installed my motor, got the wrong pitch of pinion. Need to get a mod 1 now. Got my esc tray and battery tray made out of carbon fiber, my battery straps came too. My dad helped me BIG time!!
Here are the pictures, my tekno rx box should be here soon too, same with the black extended a-arms.

Looks pretty good sofar. That motor won't last very long, no matter how conservative of a driver you are. Consider upgrading to a CC 2200 or similar.

Yeah, I figured out that after my order was shipped. I have a used MMM on the way also. I will probably take the hit and buy a new CC 2200. I also need new driveshaft boots.

Are you missing a screw on the battery tray- looks like one of the holes doesnt line up (on the right on the photos)?

Looks like a nice tidy conversion, good work.

Hey Neil, the hole does line up. But I am still waiting for the tekno rx box that will sit there, there will be a spacer of some sort in between the bottom of rx box and battery tray. Then a screw will be holding it all together. I am going to pick up new driveshaft boots, 1/8th black wing, body, paint, and some rims/wheels for my badlands tires. Along with a new pinion.
Updates will come soon.
How does a black wing sound with a black/green paintjob? With some white wheels. Black a-arms should be here soon too. I will have to find some cash for a hpi tork 2200kv motor (aka CC 2200kv motor), they seem to be cheaper on ebay than the "legit" CC motor and I like the black better.

And thanks for the compliments guys :)

much better IMO.

Black wing sounds good, maybe with some green highlights to go with the shell.. personal taste really.

Black a-arms came in, stupid amain sent me MINI revo front a-arms instead of 1/10th scale revo a-arms. So i picked some up at the lhs, also ordered a slipstream body and got my paint.
Pics pics pics!!
These pics do not do it justice. I am REALLY happy with the outcome. I have just enough carbon fiber to make some mud guards for the rear a-arms! I did a little switcheroo on the driveshafts to make the rubbers in towards the diff more. I need to find some rims and foams for my badlands! That will make the truck look awesome too. I am SUPER happy how this is turning out. ESC should be here sometime soon along with the tekno rx box. I need to find a 2200kv motor from a MMM combo.
Here are the pics!

very nice indeed. Also look into the tekno sway bar kit. Helps dramatically w/handling....small upgrade that makes a big difference.

Thanks guys!! I have swaybars on my platinum and this is just a basher, I need to save for a better motor. Mopar that is a VERY nice conversion!! I am guessing you are 15 just like me. I am going to probably buy some red turnbuckles after christmas, they are very nice! I need some half inch offset wheels (make the truck look 10x better) and foams for my badlands. Slipstream body is on the way along with a new pinion.

My MMM came in today! Same with the tekno rx box. I set up the tekno rx box so it will hook up with battery tray.
Here are some current pics! If only I had a pinion I could test this thing out!!
Pictures are here! Although not that great of ones, the pc programming on the mmm is awesome!!

All I can say is WOW. I love this thing!! It easily hits 40mph! The MMM preformed flawlessly! The motor actually did GREAT! Temps of about 145f the whole time! I love brushless, just amazing!!
The whole bash session lasted 1:45 to 3:30! Sure we talked and what not but I got AMAZING run times!!
I was geared 14/38, the esc and batteries never even changed temperatrure. I was geared 14/38, it should be a ROCKET geared 17/38 with the CC/Neu 2200kv motor.
For $30 this motor is AMAZING.
