3.3 Conversion + two 3S Lipo placement? - 11.30.2009, 06:16 PM

Hello,

After my 2 Lipos puffed on me I decided to wait until next spring before replacing them. I'm planning on getting two 3S 5500mAh VX Lipos from Hyperion, to go with a ccneu 2200kv motor.

Question is: those lipos are big and I'm not sure where I'll be putting them.

As it was, I had two 2S Lipos on the right side of the chassis. I just don't think that two 3S Lipos will fit there.

No hurry: I do have all winter to figure this out! :-)

Thanks

Loa

On my conversion, I bought 2 New Era battery trays and attached one on each side. Not sure if they are long enough for the big Hyperion packs but I'm sure Mike could make you something that would fit up nicely.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

Thanks for the input.

Do you have any pics? I really can't imagine a huge Lipo sitting on the motor side.

I can't find any pics of mine, just one battery on each side.

Ok, but with the motor taking much of one side, I don't see it fitting: even with a shorter 2S Lipo, it would put the pack in contact with the front wheel every time I'd turn left.

This is a direct conversion, not one using the EMaxx tranny.

Sorry, I had a E-Maxx tranny conversion in my head. As far as I know, you will need to stack them on the side opposite the motor unless you can come up with a clever new place to put them.

Hmm, I had 14 GP3300 cells on the side opposite the motor in my conversion, and it ran fine with little to no balance issues.

Using the dimensions available on the net, two 3S 5500mAh Lipos from Hyperion will be a LOT bigger than my two 2S Lipos from TrueRC or 14 NiMh.

But I guess there's no real alternative if I'm using the Revo tranny.

I have seen a conversion where the guy mounted a battery tray just above the rear shocks might be something to look into

U have the tekno conversion? Do u need 6s power? thats alot of power! Have u thought of instead using a single VX 6s or even a smaller 5s pack?

I have the basic RCMonster motor mount for an as-direct-as-possible conversion.

As for the 5S, I've thought about it, but having two 3S would let me enjoy my VXL Rustler again. Maybe it would be a simpler solution...
