slash motor - 12.07.2009, 03:25 AM

i use my slash both for racing & bashing. our track has capped our motor limit to 10.5 cause they wanna keep it spec. now i wanna run 3s for bashing but only 2s for racing. im looking at either a 10.5, 13.5, lehner basic4200 & 3100. novak rates their 10.5 at 4200kv, so the track commity just uses those kv ratings for references, so i could get away with the basic4200, but i also read lehner underates their motors.

so i was also looking at the basic3100, which 13.5s are usually rated between 3000-3300kv. the only thing im worried about with running a 13.5 on 3s is heat, & i know the lehners run alot more effeciently compared to other 2pole motors. i would go for the basic xl, but im only running turnigy 20c lipos so i need something easy on them.

the 10.5s/13.5s im looking at are the fantom ION & ION2 which are trinity/epic duo/duo2 based motors. alot of racers seem to like the duo motors, which helps me in choosing. this will be paired up with a mmp.

the track we race at is more a medium to large size, i can never hit full throttle on the straight with my current 4600 motor, so maybe id be better off with a 13.5 geared low than a 10.5...
