Opinions on the Mugen MBX6 and motor options for it. -
12.24.2009, 07:55 PM
Hey guys, I am tossing around the idea of picking up an mbx6 race roller and doing an MMM speedy with a castle-neu or neu motor in it strapped down with an rcm brushless conversion kit.
I know NOTHING about these trucks, so just looking for a few opinions on it and more importantly which motor would work for me? castle-neu 2200kv? Or is there a better option? I MIGHT race this thing next summer however it will probably just be a basher/bmx track queen.

Did I put this in the wrong section? Maybe it needs to be moved to buggies?

might as well go with a castle-neu since they are the same as the original neu but cheaper. and might as well get a MMM also since ur gonna need an 8th scale ESC, and the only other real competitor is the tekin which is a lot more expensive.
alternatively you could go the cheap route and buy budget gear, but thats up to you.

Mugen buggies are terrific. Built like tanks. As far as a esc goes...either a mmmpro or mmm. The pro will give you the option that the mmm won't. (sensored/sensorless) Motor will depend on your set up....for racing i'd go w/ a 1512 1.5y castle/neu on 4 or 5s. For all around bashing, the 2200 will be stupid fast on 5s
1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

Money is not an object to an extent, and I will be using an MMM speedy for sure. I am just curious what motor would be best all around. Would just a simple mmm/2200kv system work well for what I want to do with it?
I will probably set the truck up for bashing, because even if I do race it it will be mostly a basher. Having a hard time bashing such a nice truck but I hear so much about them being bulletproof.

The 2200ccneu in my mbx-5T on 5s is stupid fast, so in a lighter buggy...wow. How many cells are you planning on running?
The 1512 may be a better choice especially for 5s, seeing as it is 1800kv. Can easily be set up to race and can be geared up for speed
1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

Well right now I am set up to run 6s, however I understand that would just be retarded in a buggy lol. But, you can always turn the power down a little bit.

For 6s...I would go for a Tekin 1700kv or the 1400kv for optimum efficiency. Both motors you can race w/ as well
1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

For 5s, I would personally go for a CC 1512/1.5y (1800 kv). 6s might work on that motor too, just gotta gear down to keeps speeds reasonable. I use a Neu 1512/2.5d on 5s in my Mugen MBX5 (converted to a CORR truck) and it works great.
