HV Car ESC Options -
12.25.2009, 11:36 PM
Hi Guys,
I've been watching Castle Creations anxiously awaiting something in the HV ESC Department to appear.
Well, this could be a long wait. Not sure, but you know how these things go.
What are my options for at LEAST an 8S Esc capable of 80 amps continous or so?
It has to have the CAR software, with brakes and reverse.
I really am itching to come up with a 8S Lipo setup for my E Revo.
I can fit a 4S 40C 4000mah Lipo in each battery compartment. Such a Lipo setup will be capable of almost 5000 watts continous!
It's not going to be pushed that hard of course, but I really want to play around with this and the collection of motors I have.
So where do I get a 8S capable ESC? Kontronik? Hmmmmmm......help!

I agree...if he is still selling those, he would be the one to talk to
1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

+1 for the lutach esc. I have one and it does well. I have been meaning to get a hv setup going and give it a try with a real big load!
Otherwise mgm might be your best bet for a hv car esc. Not sure where to score one cheap though. Ebay and the various forum for sale areas...

8s 3700mah is what I ran my extended Savage on with Medusa 36-80-1100 on the LT-10s ESC. SICK power even with a center diff though that truck has been apart for at least 8 months!
If you can get a hold of the LT-10s you wouldn't regret it. My only gripes about it are the width and the not-so-Savage-friendly mounting.
SH Z-Car, Custom Crawler, 8s Savage, 12s XTM XLB 1/7 buggy, 4wd 4-link rear/IFS Pro4 truck, Custom Hyper 10 Short Course, Belt-Drive Mammoth ST 1/8 truggy, 4s 17.5 MM Pro HPI Blitz

Guys, the reason I had the 10S plane ESCs made with a car software was to get more attention from the manufacturers here in the US (Castle and Tekin). I know they can make something smaller. Patrick already said he's working on a few ESCs. I know HV is the way to go for a nice and efficient set up and trying to convince everyone else will be hard if they don't see a market for it. I'm also waiting for Castle's HV ESCs like everybody else. With that said. I can have smaller HV controllers made, but it's from another place and I have no clue how well it'll be.
Edit: Good thing Castle listens more then any other company. I like their new program card, do you guys like it as well?

Hi Lutach,
HV is the way to go. Do you have any spare LT-10S's laying around?
I haven't tried the program card yet, but as long as it accesses all the settings, I'm sure it will be a hit.

It works quite well; no problems with the MM, MMM, MMPro. Works exactly as it is supposed to and isn't complicated. Another neat feature is it acts as a castle link when hooked to a computer (the buttons on the card are inactive in this mode). There are a few options not listed on it, like BL motor direction, beep option, throttle/brake curves, throttle dead band, etc. But the most tweaked options are on there.

That was the idea I sent to HW and posted here a while back. I have plenty of other ideas, but I won't share those anytime soon. I'm basically waiting to see how long it'll take someone to come up with it .

The only 10S version I have is the one with the dual power board that I'm using.
