trying to find the ideal suspension setup - 01.06.2010, 12:50 PM

just like the title says im trying to get the best of both worlds.. i have already lowered and stiffened up my suspension.. the front drive shafts are level and the rear is a bit higher than level... im running 70wt oil in all shocks and im happy with the way it drives.. except for when i hit a decent jump the rear tends to bottom out hard..

im using blue springs with the preload maxed.. should i up the oil or get stiffer springs? i just dont want to go to high in oil and lose my driveability

Thicker oil will definitely help the bottoming out thing. Maybe get those valved pistons (if it already doesn't have them) to make shock return a little faster.

Increase your rear shock oil weight,
Its really hard to get the best of both worlds- just have to play around with things, move the bottom shock mounting points in-towards the diff and readjust ride height- you will get more initial dampening..

Also, not sure what you are running for rockers, but I liked P2's when I had my Revo (nitro conversion).

im using all stock rockers(3.3 conversion) .. and the rear is in the inner holes already... i will look into those valved pistons... i have some new gtr shocks coming in from ebay so hopefully it will come with a set of pistons....

im trying to do this because i race every 2 weeks and bash pretty much everyday at the local bmx dirt and concrete track and i dont want to be having to constantly adjust the setup..

i think somethings wrong with me as i rather spend time with the car than the gf.

i race more than i bash, but i love to jump, this setup works pretty well for me doing both

You're not landing correctly if your bottoming out hard with a 70wt oil. I have a revo conversion running on 5S with the Castle Neu 2200Kv and I don't bottom out hard. I'm using silver or white springs (I'm color blind) in the rear and green springs in front with 50wt oil all around. I try to land like the airplanes do (rear landing gear touching the ground first and then the front) and I found out that the rear will not bottom out as bad as landing on all four wheels at the same time.

Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion
Ofna CR with Tekin ESC/Motor (2)
