best ac/dc 4s capable balance charger - 01.22.2010, 11:41 PM

i've got a buddy in the army i'm building a brushless buggy for (the roller I just bought) and it will run on 4s.

I need to hook him up with a charger and prefer ac/dc as I believe this will be easier for him to haul around the world. (doesn't know where he's going yet)

I'd like any suggestions on the above, and wonder what the military guys think?? Is this the way to go or will he always have access to 12v? What do you guys do?

There was someone here selling a Triton2 (I think) recently. It is rated 100w on AC, and something like 120w on DC. Should be enough to charge a 4s pack at up to ~6A. And that's probably about as powerful as you're gonna get with a AC/DC charger...

I use that same charger, and like it a lot. I bring that one with me to the track and use a hyperion 615 at home. As Brian said it does 100watts so good for 6amps on a 4s pack and the balancer is built in.

It's not super powerful (50W) so on 4s only capable of about 3A but the Hyperion eos 0606i is a great charger.

I agree with Revonut. IMO the Hyperion 606i is one of the best balance chargers out there. I have 2 of them and they both work flawlessly. 1 is the older version and will only charger up to 6000 mah charge rate, but my other one is the newer version and it will charge up to 16000 mah charge rate. I dont know of anyone that has a 16000 mah lipo to charge it at 1C but hey I guess they are thinking about future lipos.

I have the hyperion and it's spot on every time and never gives me issues. It's actually the first charger I have owned that has never given me a problem.
