well im about to get my new badlands mounted on my rpm revolver rims.. is drilling holes even necessary? i do alot of mud runs and it sees alot of beach time so im worried about it all collecting inside my tire...
If you are playing in mud, bashing with badlands... no need to put holes in anything in this case. Seal them up real good to keep the water and mud out. If you ever have an issue with the tires being too bouncy or staying flat/expanded due to heat build up or cent. forces, etc... THEN you can put holes in them.

I must be ignorant. I've always put holes in the rims, and then getting annoyed at all the sand and dirt that gets trapped inside. How do holes in the tires affect their durability? Where do you punch them? Somewhere along the treads?
i read up a little about it and most ppl punch a small hole in the center of the tread.. i just dont feel to comfortable doing it as i am in mud puddles quite frequently.
handy tool for punching tire holes. Some people just use a leather hole punch. That works too. Just put 2-3 equally spaces holes along the centerline of the tire. Any water, mud, sand, etc that gets in the tire will just get flung out while the tire spins.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
I use a drill bit in my dremel and put two holes oposite each other in the center of the tire. Works great, esspecially when getting wet, next run the truck shakes for the first 30 seconds or so but then the foams are wrong out and truck drives great.
Back in the day, most racers put holes in the wheels. Now I think most do holes in the tires... as mentioned, this allows water to get out and lets in less dirt than a hole in the wheel. I use body scissors to notch a small hole in the center of the tread... small leather punch would be cool though, as long as you remember to do it before gluing. :)
But if you are running in mud, etc and not racing... you shouldn't need any holes.
