I need a middle of the road BL setup for revo...ideas?

So I want a reliable BL system that can push the revo to 40 but still have low speed controllability. I am going down to one rc and was set on the slash 4x4 but I am thinking I want a revo again as they are much more capable offroad/climbing. I do enjoy slamming trucks and running on the street (and the slash would excel there already being lower cog/lighterweight) but I think the revo will be what I buy. Because I do want the truck to be able to do SOME slower stuff (not .5mph, but I dont want the truck to be doing the cogging jitterbug at anything below 5mph).

So...should I look into the novak systems or are those really not that great these days? I need affordability and would probably only be running 4s. Are those 80A xerun or ezrun (w/e they are called now) easy to get and reliable? How about say a 10xl with that combo?

I had considered the dewalt setup but those motors are huge/heavy and I figure I may as well go BL from the start.

tekin or castle creations would be your best bet


the novak system would work, but i cant recomend it since i had 2 of the die on me

I think the obvious thing people will say is that you should use a Castle creation Mamba monster or a Tekin RX8.I`m running a Mamba monster 2000KV in my E-revo

IMO the XeRun 80 and a Novak HV motor would be a descent cheap option. Better then an XL, and Be sensored , so the crawling should be smooth. The reliabilty is the question, as the esc is really to new to say.
The MMM combo is hard to beat, it's just if 40 is really all you want, there are cheaper routes. But you'll want more eventually. :)

I ran a MMPro with a Novak HV 6.5 motor and it did pretty good.

It really depends on how much money you want to spend.

Tire size will be the deciding factor here. If you can run light mt sized wheels and tires the novak should do fine. No idea on the hobbywing stuff. I would go with a cc 2200 motor if you plan to do sensorless, anything else is a waste of money. You can get them lightly used for 100 bucks.

Go straight for a brushless edition Revo. Better radio than AM, great motor and esc, and when you want to go slower get a small pinion and change them quick.

I can recommend the HW ESCs. The XeRuns aren't really "new" per say as the design is the same as the EZRuns, but the PCB was made smaller and more compact with a new case to enclose everything. Also, my EZRuns are very smooth for a sensorless system, without the need to find the perfect setup in the ESC. Running the Neu-Castle 2200kV with the EZRun cogs more than I prefer. The XeRuns can run sensored motors, which if you want smooth is the best way to go. My EZRun setups don't cog going over 1 or 2mph, even when rolling backwards. I've seen guys at the track with MMM combos that cog more when rolling backwards.
With that said, since you're buying a new Revo, I would second the recommendation to get the BL version from the start. You already get everything you're looking for.
