To much for my ESC? - 02.28.2010, 04:51 AM

Hi,
I have a converted XB8 EC Buggy. Just installed Hobbywing XERUN 80A ESC and MEDUSA 36-60-1800KV motor from RCM.
Setup to 32mph at gearing of 46/12.

I saw on the motor spec that the current is 82A (Max at 99A) see below:

Do I push my ESC to the edge? The ESC spec is 80A while the motor is 82A.
I don’t want any fireworks show on the track.

I think it would be alright- those specs are maximum & peak ratings, you'll generally see continuous current draw in the 20-40amp region as a general guideline. I've seen guys running 80amp escs with 9XL motors ( 1900kv ) in the erevo without much trouble, so a lighter buggy & smaller/ lower kv would be less stressful for the esc.
