Motor for 4s LiPo - 03.21.2006, 01:12 PM

Need a motor for E-Maxx that will run on 4s lipo. The E-Maxx is stock except for these upgrades: alum diffs and cups, steel cvds, steel center drive shafts and steel idler (single speed). This will be used for mostly bashing.

Sounds cool, a 10L would be nice.

It depends on the quality of the cells though. What is the speed you wish? about 30-35 mph?

30-35 mph sounds good. The lipos I am looking at useing are 2 2S packs for $76.50 ea.

4000mah Capacity
7.4 Volts
44mm X 132mm X 13mm
Rated at 48 Amp Constant Discharge(12C)
Rated at 64 Amp Burst for 10 seconds(16C)
175 grams

Just incase anyone is wondering , this is my mostly stock E-Maxx and not custom one that I am building in the other thread (yes I have 2).

Or I my go with these For $72 ea.

6000mah Capacity
7.4 Volts
45mm X 135mm X 24mm
Rated at 60 Amp Constant Discharge
Rated at 72 Amp Burst for 10 seconds
292 grams

So the 10L will work good on 14.8v ?

I've been running a 10L in my revo on 12 cells and its the perfect bashing setup. I get nice run times and fairly good speed and it runs cool. Should be perfect for 4s lipo.

i would personally go for the 7xl. it will run cooler and just be better over all. i would also go for the second packs. there cheaper, are capable of more amps, although there are slightly bigger, they will perform better.

Are the run times the same between the 10L and the 7XL?

actually the 7xl will probably give better runtimes. what kind of speeds are you looking for. you might also want to think about the 8xl.

10L will get you a better runtime, 10L will be easier on your drivetrain and is more than enough for bashing. The 10L will be less hard on your lipo's too.

a 7xl vs. 10l, wouldn't the 7xl draw wayy more amps than the 10L? Hence worse runtimes?

I just checked and it shows that Mike is out of stock on the L motors. I wanted to place an order this week is there a Lehner motor that is comparable to the 10L? What gearing should I start with?

Definately go for the 6000mah lipos, and whether you chose the 10L or 7XL (personally I would go for the 7XL) run times will be 25-30 minutes plus

I couldn't get that much runtime out of my 7xl. I ran gp 3700 and got about 10mins. It was a fast 10 min.
