Rebuilding my Truck - 03.22.2010, 03:44 AM

I was able to do more stuff last night. Here are the pics:

1/8 scale diffs assembled. 3K rear and 7K front.

I used Gorrila SNAWT to lubricate the ring gear.

All buttoned up.

HCR case, Super 6, OTB, Strobe Slipper, and CNR brake kit.

Predator chassis with monoblock.

Tranny installed.

More to come.

Sweet...As much of a PITA it is to strip a truck completely down, it sure is nice to give it some needed love and to put it back to as close to new condition as possible. For me anyway, working on my trucks is as close to therapeutic as one can get

Ted, that supermaxx is now being converted to brushless. It would be done soon since I just received my Tekin systems.

I'll probably not going to run this anymore. It was a pain to polish the parts after I beat it up driving around. I spent so much time sanding the gouges on the titanium skids. What a PITA. The setbacks and high impact arms are all brand new.

Got some progress done with my rebuild. I was able to assemble the suspenion and CVDs.

Racerx with setbacks and high impact arms

I also received the Tekin systems I ordered a few weeks ago :applause:  . One is a 2050Kv motor for my X2 buggy and the other is a 2000Kv motor for my ST RR.

We are lucky considering the price we get to pay for that stuff. Thats over $1200 to $1500 worth of Team Tekin gear there. Nice score Lito. Your truck is looking great Chief. I received my two RCM universal center diff mounts this morning. I have one mocked up already with a 44t spur ready to install. This hobby is awesome man.

The build is going well. Everything is in place except for the engine and the fuel tank. But since I'm not going to be running this truck anymore, I'll most likely leave it at this state.

I still have to solder the connectors for the Tekin systems. The truggy motor will be installed into my ST RR and the Castle system from there will go to the brushless supermaxx. I might keep the Tekin buggy system in the box until I come back from deployment this November.

Here are some pictures of the Predator.

Thanks.

I used to race/bash it like a madman. However, it now came to a point where I drive the brushless truggy and buggies more often than this truck so I decided to clean and polish it up and rebuilt it for display.

Here's what it used to look like with the exception of the tranny and lowere front/rear arms:

Disassembled for cleaning. It almost took me 2 years to clean/polish and put it together.

Thats funny. - 04.16.2010, 03:52 AM

Thats pretty funny. The average Joe looking at those pics would more than likely tell you to just throw that pile of jumk in the trash and start over. It's funny because not everyone has the talent or that skill of looking at a pile of stuff like that and seeing what it could be with a little elbow grease. That is a very good representation of how different people see the same things. They're always nice once all of the work is completed. That will make a fine ShelfQueen Lito. Nice work as usual Lito.

Hey Lito I just received another box from HPI with two more center diffs inside. They are not hardened gears, but they do come with a 50T steel spur gear attached. For $9 why not.

I just put together another roller setup with the parts I had laying around. Harold had sent me a gift before Exmas, and it was an RCsolutions ExtMaxx kit. He only wanted the roll cage and suspension parts, so he gave me the rest of it. The chassis is a half inch longer than the RCM/Fastlane chassis made out of 1/4 aluminum plate, and made for a nitro TMaxx, but with the help of the new RCM center diff mount I got everything together and working well. Once I have the money to acquire some of those RX8 combo kits I will be in business. But that will have to wait, because I am heading out to Cali tomorrow on Emergency leave. My wife's father passed away yesterday. 97 years old.
