My other hobby: Ball Pythons - 03.22.2010, 09:26 PM

Anyone like snakes? Or reptiles and amphibians in general?

I have always been fascinated from a young age. Ball pythons are one of the best pet snakes IMO. They don't get huge, only need to be fed once a week or less, and have fairly easy to meet space and husbandry requirements.

Here are some pics of a few different morphs (think paint jobs!), both mine and my friends (who is a breeder and got me started into BPs).

Piebald:

Pastel:

Hatchling Woma:

Mojave:

Albino:

Normal (My first BP):

I used to be a turtle and snake fanatic when I was kid, the python in the first pic is a spectacular looking animal.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

i'm glad to see there's some other people out there that have the same 2 hobbies that i do. i've had snakes since i was 4 and i still have the 2nd snake i ever got. the first tried squeezing into a tight spot that he couldn't fit into and crushed his jaw doing it. it was a normal corn snake.

i got my ball python (2nd snake) when i was 4 years old. he is getting on in years and doesn't eat live prey anymore because he is losing his sight and i think he's arthritic. the live rats were starting to be able to escape his grasp or at least move around enough to bite him. he is a normal ball python, but he has an almost perfect "8" shape and an almost perfect "G". if hyperion ever releases a G8 line of batteries, i will be sure to get one.

i also have:
2 suriname red-tail boa
1 guyana red-tail boa
2 california king snakes (black and white striped)

i would get some pictures of them, but i just fed them today and it's not a good idea to handle snakes the same day you feed them.

edit: got some pics of my ball python. not too bad for phone pics. he's having a hard time shedding right now. i need to mist his cage to raise the humidity.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
