How much should go back into discharged lipos? - 04.03.2010, 09:59 PM

I am running 5000mah 30C Flightmax hardcases in my truggy. I go out and run the packs down to the LVC (3.2V/cell). Then when I put them on the charger they are taking 5000mah back in to reach 4.2V/cell. This seems like too much to me, should I be concerned? Or does this just mean the packs are performing to full rated capacity? They never run hot, have never been over-discharged, and are balanced every cycle. Thanks in advance for any input!

I've seen several guys say that the hobbycity cells tend to be underrated for capacity, can be a little puzzling but isnt a concern really at all. If they arent overheating or getting baddly out of balance by the end of the run ( easy enough to check ), then you're good to go I'd say

Excellent, just what I needed to hear. They are generally within 50mV right after the LVC, and after 5-10 minutes when the voltages rise a bit and they stabilize they are within 10-20mV. Every charge they balance right back up to just a few mV difference, if any.

Maybe HC is rating their packs by usable capacity? It would explain why they are taking almost exactly 5000mah back in (last charge cycle they took 4992mah)
