Hostile MXT's vs Proline Trencher's - 04.11.2010, 02:38 AM

This is for the Baja boys in the room. Man, my rear stocks are just about turned into slicks after running my 5T today. I gotta order some new tires this week from DDM so I gotta decide what will work best for me. Can I reuse the foams from my stock HPI tires in the Hostile's? Which hardness are these at DDM, it doesn't say. How hard is it to trim off that excess rubber on the hostile tires, looks like a PITA.

Above all, I'm really sick of my 5T fishtailing all over the place in loose dirt like at our bash pit, I wanna tire with some damn bite so i'm not sliding all over the place and something so those front tires can hook and stay planted. The trenchers seem like they wouldn't dig into loose soil as well as the MXT's, but the MXT's look like it will be easier to flip the car on its side at high speed turns, especially in grass. Any input on this? Needless to say, I won't drive either of these tires on concrete except at very slow speeds.

All in all, whichever is the best tire to handle this is the one I need

The trimming's a piece of cake, you'll have more trouble mounting the MXTs. I had MX nightmares on my 5B and they hooked like crazy on grass. You might risk tearing the sidewall on the Trenchers on that rough surface.

Amazingly enough, my stock tires haven't suffered from that.

MXT's al the way,i think prolines look cooler and they are a bit softer and better for finer dirt but the MXT's grip really well on rough terrain (your spot looks to be alot of gravel?) and they last damn near forever, and at 45$ a pop at my LHS per set its a big plus.and i think you can reuse your foams, but i like hostiles better anyway--josh

hostiles all the way. i had the original mx tread tire back when i had my baja (now bigsteel's baja). the hostile tires are great as long as you don't run on concrete. i

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
