Netbooks who has them?

i just got my new little netbook book in the mail today, (bought it off of rc-tech actually) and im on it right now. its a very cool little laptop and surprisingly fast with windows 7 after a few little things i did. Its gonna be extremely handy in some classes and going to the track and just traveling in general. Long battery life, lightweight, and actaully a better system than my current laptop.

Anyways i got a samsung N130, its got windows 7 now, and its got 2gb of ram upgrade and it runs good.

what netbooks do you guys have and how do you like them, now that i got one my gf wants one so she dont have to tote her huge laptop around to class.

I had one (an older used Asus) but I blew the USB ports doing a little experimenting (that'll teach me not to use a hub!). When I had it, it was nice and light, especially for trips. Didn't like the small screen size. The SSD drive was nice for shock-resistance. Was running TinyXP on 2GB of RAM and it worked fine. Since then, I just got a refurbushed regular laptop; it's still older, but I like the keyboard and screen size a lot better.

I've got an asus 1000he that the RCM family bought me (thanks again everybody!)

It's been going strong for well over a year. (2 crashes, my fault)

The portability and battery life outweigh the lack of a full keyboard and small screen size IMO.

well my larger laptop is over 8 years old running strong on window xp but its only has a 14inch screen so this 10 inch screen is only slightly smaller and shows no glare which is great. The keyboard is the same size.... not much of a change for me... only difference in feel is the lack of extra space under the touch pad buttons and on the sides on the keyboard.

Windows 7 does wonders with those little mini laptops. I sold all my mini laptops. It's fun to have but too damn small. I had two of the new HP5101 and those were pretty quick. But I need two harddrives in my laptop, so they had to go. I'm running a HP2530P now. 12" screen, 6-8 hours run time and am able to use two harddrives.

I had one, did everything I could to get it to play a few older games(KOTOR) I gave up after overclocking it(cpu+gpu) and sold it for what I had into it...


then I bought an OCZ DIY 17in, lil big but it allows me to upgrade/change parts as needed

neweggs price is way to high, but nixxus had them for $280 AR, and mine doesn't have a blue ray drive(soon maybe...)

I got my Acer Aspire 1 netbook not too long ago and have been enjoying it very much. It is my first Windows-based machine ever, so I was a little skeptical, but the Windows 7 Starter has been flawless so far and does everything I need.

So far I have swapped out the 160GB HDD to a 160GB SSD, and I also plan on upgrading the ram from 1GB to 2GB when funds allow.

I wanted a laptop to use for email and web surfing, but wasn't sure if I'd use it enough to justify the cost. The netbook is perfect for my needs and was about half the cost (although I kind of negated that with the SSD, which cost as much as the netbook, LOL)

Yeah, looking back it is kind of ridiculous that I have a $400 SSD in a $300 netbook, but I've dealt with the headache of a crashed HDD, and the money was well spent IMO. I would never put an SSD in my desktop (at least not until they become cost-effective) but laptops and netbooks are far more exposed to being dropped or smashed, so I wanted the extra insurance for my data.

On the plus side, it did noticeably speed up the boot-up and read/write speeds. And for my $400 I got to send away a rebate for a limited edition Intel Mini Maglite and toolkit (est. value probably $5-10 LOL!) I bought a cheap external enclosure on Ebay and now use the original 160GB HDD as a portable external, where I store stuff I'm not as concerned about losing.

I have a acer 11.6" netbook with 2gb of memory and 250gb hard drive. I have it. Well my dislike for it is probably more due to the fact that it has vista on it. It was more for my girl anyways.

you know that they make HDDs with free fall sensors for cheap... I got my 320gb for $50ish

I learned never to use it in a car though, the up/down movements cause it to park the head...


the best upgrade you can do to a netbook is 2gb of ram, and if you like to watch movies/games use this, you can also overclock the old dell mini 10(not 10z/new one) to around 2ghz without any problems...


fricken UPS isn't here yet with $500 worth of stuff...

I've got a Dell one I bought to run my train layout. It's last years model upgraded to Win7 and it screams for such a little guy. Boots in 30 seconds or less and is awake from sleep in about 15-20 seconds. It's a great little computer especially for 200 bucks!

I do not have anything as gangsta as you guys. Just half a dozen desktops scattered around, and a 26" monitor on my home surfin' machine so I can easily see how dumb most of the questions are on the traxxas forum...

I do have a tablet style touch screen HP laptop thingy. Has the screen you can swivel around and close back on the keyboard so you can use the touch screen. Never use that feature, but the little bugger works ok, and I have 300 bucks in it.
