Puffed Lipo - Suggestions? - 09.05.2010, 08:02 PM

Well I have 2 Turnigy 2S 7.4V 5000mAh packs that have been puffed for awhile, but recently, got a bit more, fat and plump lately.

Very weird thing is, is that it's been barely used! I rarely ran it because I hated logging the logs and such, these are the logs:

If you can't tell, I rarely ran them.

It's been puffing for awhile, but now it's getting to the point where I'm starting to get worried.

I want to make some fireworks tomorrow (Labor Day!), and was thinking about popping it with a BB gun...
Make one go poof, and the other one the same, or poke it with a very long (and heavy!) sharp pole (uhh, forgot what's it's called.. )

I'm just worried I'm gonna catch something on fire, or.... damage something or.... make it smell like poop.

Any other suggestions?
I may also just be lame and toss it in a bucket of salt water and watch it erode and not blow up.

Anyways, here they are in all their glory

So much goes for waiting for creative ideas.

Just did one of the lipos, HUGE tons of smoke, I'm about to do my other one, except this time on video!
Oh, and wearing a mask this time..

---

So....

It went pretty well, missed the lipo a couple times (was at least 50 feet back on an inaccurate BB gun, stepped up to about 10 after to hit it).
Massive clouds of smoke...
Did my best not to breathe any, though some got through the cheap 10 cent mask we got.

Didn't get much pictures of the second popping, most of the first, video's on second though!

Heres the video:

BB gun did a good job or shorting out the cells ?

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

BB did an amazing job actually.
Roughly 5-7 pumps on an old inaccurate Daisy PowerLine 880 (older model, of that design) did the first one, one shot went through one and pierced the second one, making the first pack go all at once.

Second pack took a couple shots, got lazy, only pumped 2 or 3 times and bounced right off of it! Did a couple more and pierced the two extra heatwrap I put on both packs plus original heatshrink, and did it.

Nice carnage lol.... perfect 2 stage smoker. They won't be cause for concern anymore.

Wow, those turnigy 5000 mAh 2s packs really do have a bad track record. That makes two of us here with bad lack with them. Lucky my Hard case turnigys are behaving better.
