I received my motors and controlers last week and was just waiting for my batteries to come before I tackled this project. Holy Crud there is a lot of wires! So the batteries came today (pro-match) and they sent me the wrong configuration. I wanted each pack to be 7cells flat (for g-maxx chassis) but they sent me 6cells flat with 7th on top! So, off they go back to where they came from to hopefuly get the ones that I ordered and get this beast put together. Speaking of which, anybody live in the Orange County/Riverside County area want to come over and help me put this thing together:lol I am going to need your guys' serious help guideing me through this because I have no clue what I am doing:C: I'll let you know when I get the batteries back.
I live in Orange County! Too bad it's Orange County New York! :)
Feel free to post pictures and ask as many questions as you want. We will do our best to answer your questions and get you rolling with your insane system. You will need a receiver pack for that set-up for starters (you possibly know this already). The controller will be wired to the receiver in parallel, I assume, so you will need that connector as well.
OK Mike,
This is all I have in hand right now.
2 motors
2 speed control
1 UBEC
2 20t pinion
and some deans plugs.
What else am I going to need and where should I get it?
Thanks
Hello Serum
I have the 9L/9918 combo.
Stock diff up front (for now) and a spool in the rear, although not too sure how that is going to hold up.
I have RDL CVDs at all 4 corners and am currently trying to find any type of center CVDs (other than stock) but I am not having any luck. I found some MIPs on ebay, but they were the black and I prefer the shiny. Might just have to settle though.
I also tryed to get some of those ultramaxx tranny gears that were being offered in another thread here somewhere, but may have been too late because he did not respond to my second e-mail.:( Maybe Mike is still working on something?
did u try the ultramaxx web site also if u have the truck apart u might want 2 put 3mm screws in the spool i have broke those little ones with drill motors
The RD Logics cvds don't work with the 1/8 diffs. The Maximizer diff cups with stock spiders and aluminum cases are very stout gears, though (although I can't seem top get the diff cases anywhere). The stockers won't hold up for two long if you drive hard. The spool will shear the 4 small screws that hold it to the ring gear and stock stock plastic diff will flex and fail.
you'll need some Y-harness' as well. Get the UE steel CVD's...Cost the same as MIP, yet 10x stronger (really, just look on their site!), better wheel hex design, bragging rights, professionally assembled, much much more...UE steel is stronger than titanium.
I guess I'll give UE another chance for the CVDs. Poor customer service really erks me though.
What do you guys think about Traxxas' light weight stuff for the tranny (Lightweight Input Shaft/Drive Gear Assembly and lightweight Output/Idler Gear Shaft) part #s 3993X & 3994X. Any good?
As far as the Y-harness' go, what are they for and where do I get them? Again, I have no clue as to what I am doing, but given instructions, I am pretty mechanicly inclined and will have no problem putting this thing together.:D
Thanks
