Which XL TVPs? - 10.04.2010, 01:44 AM

DesertBoyXL
FLM Tranny Forward
TCS 5mm XL
1offRC 5mm XL
or PRC CF XL?

I was shooting for the PRC CF TVPs but the lead time is 2-3 weeks. Not sure if I could wait that long. Plus they have other CF I'd want so it would be a $300+ order. 1off is about a week lead time. Generis is in Canada so it would be about 2 weeks at least. FLM I've been hearing mixed feelings. And there's still the TCS ones too. Should I just tough it out and wait for the PRC?

These XL TVPs look pretty decent but i hear the lead time is horrendous

Seriously though, its been hinted that FLM might be releasing some cool TVPs soon. Might be worth the wait?

I have the FLM Tranny Forward. It's a nice kid but you are limited in the battery size you want, that's the biggest downfall, the kit isn't cheap either.

I'm looking forward to those new FLM TVP's, sound awesome!! Maybe I'll sell my kit and buy a new one since I'm planning on building in a 1717.

I dont mind the battery space. I'll still be running the battery boxes anyways. How much heavier is it compared to stock?

Yeah I better look into these too. The price is definitely on point.

I wish I had the patience to sit back and wait a little but I'm itching to have something to work on for the weekend.

SO the upcoming FLM TVPs are going to be Baja-sized. Not the size I was aiming for so I'm definitely not going to wait for those. Hmm.... where can I pick up some 4mm CF sheets at?

The option to place the LiPo within the TVP's is the biggest advantage / the main reason why I choose this kit.

When mounting the LiPo inside the TVP's the kit is lighter than the stock size Flux:

Stock : 4007grams

FLM FTC: 3772grams

Wow, almost 300g. That's a big difference. I was sure the FLM kit weighed more.

I ended up picking up a pair of used PlatinumRC CF TVPs for pretty cheap. If that doesnt work out for me I'm sold on the FLM FTC

Keep in mind that the weight of the two battery boxes in the first picture adds 220 gram
in the second picture there are no battery boxes

Soro: FLM FTC pics - mount

What soro sais is right. I don't have two batteryboxes and no radio gearbox in front which saves the weight.

Nard, will that FLM motor mount work with the stock mount plate?

I don't believe it will, but you can copy Bondo's solution:
