Leopard 3650 2.5Y (2930kv), EzRun SC10 - 01.13.2011, 10:45 PM

Hey fellas,

I just got the Leopard 3650 2.5Y (2930kv) motor and EzRun SC10 ESC (they are in a Losi Desert Truck) and have a couple of questions.

For starters, does anyone know much about the SC10 ESC?
It seems pretty good to me at the moment, much more robust than the 60A and is just better all over (aside from size and weight).

But I am noticing that on take off it is quite slow, do these have some sort of soft start that can't be turned off?
I know it's not a major issue but I like knowing I have all the power there whenever I want it.

Onto the motor, it seems really good, turning the rotor, it feels quite notchy and theres heaps of power (a lot more than the Velineon 3500 it seems, gonna run them side by side soon to make sure).
It seems to want to run on the hot side though.

I had it geared for 50kph (31mph) and it felt really good (was running on wet grass with stock tyres, next to no grip), plenty of power and acceleration, it spun up really quick, I was quite surprised how quick it spins up.
After a few min though, it was hitting 60C and a couple more saw it hitting 70 (I stopped after this though).
I changed the pinion 3 teeth smaller and in the same time it was getting about 60C.
The wires were a little warm too, not hot, just a little warmer than ambient (20C).

I get the feeling this motor is not supposed to run its best on 2s.
Although I did get it with the mind of experimenting/trying out different motors and to eventually run 3s, I now think though that 3s on this motor in this truck would be far too much power (a lower kv would have been nicer still I think).

I was hoping that with the specs of this motor that I could gear it up to atleast match the speeds of the Velineon 3500, doesn't look like I can, not with 2s anyway.

I did have the slipper up a bit tight originally, which I only remembered to adjust after I changed pinion, I might give it few runs on the 23t pinion and see if it will go much higher than the 60-70C.

This is the motor I got.

Could anyone confirm my thoughts about the motor (needing more voltage) and the esc (soft start)?
Any tips to try out?

Cheers.
