gearing for hyper 8 - 02.20.2011, 05:19 AM

hey, l just want to know if you can use a stock spur (46t) and a 17t pinion, atm l am using a 14t pinion. is it a bit of a jump from 14t to 17t using the stock spur? or do l have to change it, to a 44t for example? this is my current steup.

That calc and the others on the site will help you figure out the gearing. 40mph is a good starting point to shoot for.

So you are geared for around 60mph. A 17t pinion is 3 teeth more than the 14 and will add quite a bit of speed. You can try, but I would be very careful and temp your batteries, motor and esc alot on the 1st few runs. This will be a hot setup, but depending on outside temps you may be alright.

This setup would not survive the southern summers, 90+f temps and 100%+ humidity make air cooling a waste of time.
