Massive heat problem. - 04.21.2011, 04:44 AM

Hey guys, i get bored (As you all know.. ) and created this contraption,

I can't figure out if im over geared or under geared, had it 12t to 80, overheated, tried 30/76 23/76 all over heated, just tore apart the tranny, cleaned all the gears no binding what so ever. The thing does mad donuts, (Pretty much all i wanted, boredom yet again) But i can't seem to drive it for more that a min. at most. nitro rustler base, Old crawler sides, Axial Tranny, wk rear axle. Any help? Im thinking maybe it's still massively under geared because of the tranny then axle.. Anyone got a center diff assemble with motor mount they want to part with? :P

EDIT: Castle sidewinder, 4600, 2s lipo.

if the battery is hot, it looks like there is a serious issue here...

too tight gearmesh at pinion/spur?
maybe the rear axle is binding (besides the tranny) ?

last shot is a shot motor (previously overheated). can you try another motor?

I don't know the gear reduction of the tranny and axle but assuming it's made for a rock crawler you might be way undergeared? What kind of top speed are you getting out of it?

Gear mesh is alright, rear axle felt fine without the tranny attached. It shouldn't be, we only ran it in a stampede for 4~6 runs.

Thats what im thinking, Top speed was decent but now im thinking motor, i tried to run it and it just "cogged" real bad but its a fully charged battery and wasn't doing it before, And it ran for a total of 10 seconds and its really hot again..
