Okay, so what you have there is an old 3906 transmission and some metal ( aluminium maybe- are they magnetic?, heavy or light feeling for their size? ) output gears- those are no good for your G4 truck.

You need to hit up ebay for a complete Emaxx 3903/05/08 transmission and motor mount + slipper clutch ( though the slipper can be upgraded easily enough if you need to, there are a couple good options about ).

You can always stick the 3906 tranny back in the old emaxx and run that as it is or let friends drive it etc, to spare your nice truck from their bad driving

Are those all of the parts you have?

Is your goal 1 or 2 trucks?

I believe you need gorillamaxx specific skid plates, which I didn't see. (Neil would know)

in my G4 i have used stock skid plate. They are ok but some titanium ones would be better, cause the whole front portion can move when only attached at the bulkheads.

I have the plastic ones on mine though and have never had any issues.

The RPM wear plates are not designed to replace the skids, they go over the top of whatever skids you use- stock is fine since the G4 doesn't use special length skids front or rear, just regular ones ( the old G2/3 extended version chassis used a longer rear skid and rear upper chassis plate ).

What model emaxx did you buy for tearing down?

You should be able to fit the 3906 tranny to the 3905 chassis buy widening the motor mounting area/ hole and drill new mounting holes- only really need 4 for the old tranny rather than 8, just enlarge the hole so the tranny fits, then mark the locations for the mounting screws & drill them with a 4mm drill bit.

That didnt make any sense at all sorry ( punctuation & grammar , you can't really connect anything up wrong unless you were trying to rewire the battery connectors ( there are only 2 plugs, a battery plugs into each one = simples ). The motors are easy to hook up, red and black wire goes to each motor & it doesnt matter which as they are wired in parallel. The only thing you could hook up wrong is the rx lead from the esc which has to be inserted the right wya around otherwise the esc just doesnt work ( no signal ).

Sounds like the smartstop was wired up wrong and shorted / the esc out...

Well, there are instructions for wiring them up on my website, always has been for years & the link is in my sig:

http://www.robotwars.00server.com/tutorials.html

Section 3 on LVCs is what you want, with various options for 2s & 4s LVCs and better options than the smartstop too...
