New MMM won't update - 05.31.2011, 06:49 PM

I picked up a new MMM. Plugged it in with castle link and it said new firmware available so I tried to update the firmware and it got an error during the process. Now it won't do anything. It will read but will not write, when I plug in batteries I get nothing. I tried reverting back to older firmware and get errors while updating firmware and trying to write. I haven't even ran the esc yet, first thing I did was plug it in to adjust the settings.

When I try to write I get this error. "Error communicating with device: Did not receive a response from controller. Try unplugging and reconnecting USB device"

When I try to update firmware it just said updated failed try again.

I tried both my computers, both front and back USB ports and 2 different clink adapters.

Any Ideas?

What OS are you running on the PCs? Are you running the castlelink software as Admin?

There was an issue with firmware updating issues quite a while back, you may be best off phoning them up and asking to speak with one of the techs who can talk you through the procedure to re-flash the firmware:

I finally got it to flash a FW. So I'm running 1.32, but another problem has occurred.

The problem is when I start out slow I get this little burst of speed. It only lasts about 1 second. I tried changing castle settings, swapping radios, different brand of batteries. I tried recalibrating the radio. I made a quick video to show what I mean. Everything else works great. I'm afraid to try a different fw cause I don't want it to brick again.

You need to downgrade the esc firmware to an earlier version- anything past v1.24 can have issues with causing throttle 'surging' at low speeds. You shouldnt have any issues downgrading it, just select a different version from under the software tab & see how that does.

Yeah I searched around a bit and that seems to be the problem. Soon as I get home from work tonight I'm gonna give it a shot and see how it goes.

That was it. I downgraded to 1.24 and it runs 100% better.
