HPI Rs4 electric conversion help.. - 06.06.2011, 10:26 PM

Hey..

Friend gave me a pretty beat up rs4...and I made it a project to bring it back to life..in electric form (was nitro)...without spending over $50 (Had the electronics, motor mount got on sale..)..

AND..here's the problem...is there anyway to get that pinion to reach the spur gear?

I searched around and found something like this..but it's the wrong size bore for the motor shaft (Castle's 4 pole 5700 is 1/8" I believe)..

http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/shaft.htm

With some recent efforts..I got the pinion even closer..

While posting this..I might try flipping the spur gear around..if that works..other wise..I still think i'd be about 1/2 an inch short..

Motor mount will not come anymore forward unless I hack away at it..

So..any thoughts?

Thanks!

EDIT:
Have flipped the spur around..about 1/2 an inch away from the pinion touching the spur..starting to hack away the motor mount...but it'll require alot of dremeling....and time...
