Wink Urine, the next best thing since Lipo? - 05.04.2006, 09:53 AM

http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/h...sh_1438430.htm

Read the whole article, really intresting.

Now it says that a small paper thin cell can generate 1.5v but you need alot to power anything large but since they weigh hardly anything, you could use loads and not add up even close the same weight as Lipos do in same voltage.

If only the capacity was good on them, wouldn't need chargers either. :D

I think Daniel can give a proper answer on this.

My guess is that the urine is poluted with too much different ingredients to be a good 'fuel'

Fuel cells are definitely cool, and will get better and better.
I keep a very close eye on this development here, since my job allows me insight in the field, and contact to some clever minds. When god blesses me with some more years on this planet, then one day I'll have a fuel cell powered RC, I have no doubt about that. It won't run on pee, that's clear though.

Nice find, nick. Didn't expect you guys to check scientific publications.

Well, Sylvester, my bet is it won't go any far with pee. At least not for our application. There's far more potent fuel.

I really doubt it will get any further than this. It isn't really practical. :D

Those urine fueled cells might not go much further, but you will be surprised on what may turn up for other, true fuel cells! There are already real cars that drive on hydrogen. The availability of high discharge Lithium cells might even just open up a door for the ambitious RC scientist. (even fuel cells need buffer batts)
