The start of my dual BL set-up. -

I finaly have some time now to start the process of soldering everything. I guess I'll start with the motors unless somebody suggests I start elswhere. The motors have 3 wires coming from them. I saw in another thread somewhere of a picture that MadDog had posted and it looks like the 3 motor wires go the the 3 wires from the controller. Is there any particular order that they go in?
Do I just solder them together and cover them with heat shrink?
Or do I use some type of connector?
Thanks
I would suggest soldering them. And yes, cover them with heatshrink. As the 4x4nut said ;), you can reverse the motors if necessary quite simply with the red jumper.
It is the jumper near the capacitors.Took me a while to find and I ended up tearing off all my shrink wrap because mine actually fell off during shipping or I lost it unpacking my controller .It is supposed to be red and stick out of the shrink wrap slighty at the capacitors. Mine is now a blue piece of tape attached to a computer jumper
:)
Is there such a thing as an on/off switch for a dual set-up (or any BL set-up for that matter)
I got the motors soldered to the ESCs tonight and was wondering if that switch is possible or even recomended. I guess I should have asked this question before I soldered the motors & ESCs just in case the switch taps into there.
I'm ready for the next step now.
Thanks
You could wire in a switch, but I wouldn't bother. It will only add a little resistance. I recommend that you test each system seperately (not driving, but check for operation) on the truck and program the controllers seperately as well. You must make sure both controller/motor combos are on the same settings and turning in the right direction. After you are satisfied that both systems are working properly, you can then wire them in parallel to your receiver and test again to make sure both systems are still working (take off pinions or move away from spur gear to test). It is important to check things out at each step to avoid costly mistakes.
Well I made my first mistake....I forgot to shorten the wires.
Three questions.
First, would I be OK cutting off about half way down the blue wires on the ESCs based off of where I have them placed? (back of the car on the esc plate)
Second, is that a good spot where I have them placed?
Third, should the blue wires be equal length on the ESCs?
Thanks.
Can anybody see the image I posted? (I cant)

I can't see the picture. You can cut the blue motor leads as far as you want, but remember, it is impossible to uncut them. Once they are cut, they are cut ;) Really, I need pictures to answer you other questions. I always have kept the wires the same length, but honestly don't know if it is necessary.
Hey Mike.
Could you look at my post here and let me know if the wire that I want to use would be OK? If not, what wire (jumper) would you recomend?
Thanks
John
That is a fine place to mount the controllers. You may consider something to support the caps, though. If they are just hanging off the edge and you do a lot of jumping, gravity will eventually be the enemy! Maybe a thin sheet of lexan? Just a little extra support.
When the batteries are installed, the caps actually rest on top of the batteries because they are stacked. Dont know if that is a good thing or bad thing though having them rest on there.
