hello, im considering turning my hot bodies lightning into a brushless buggy. Ive read up as much as i can find, but am not having much luck on researching stuff. Ive read an article about converting a hyper 7 which looks good.

Anyway, could anyone help me as i dont have much experience with electrics as ive only ever owned one. I was hoping for something like a 12-14 cell brushless.
Would the E maxx set ups work?(esc, motor, mount) as i have read that a e maxx motor mount can be modified to fit a buggy.
i live in the uk and so far havent found many places that sell good priced brushless set ups. So may order from HK or the US?

any advice or links would be appreciated big time:027:

The current design used by FD does not use that setup, they use Mod1 Pinions. Honestly, there is something VERY nice about using a setup which has mostly off-the-shelf parts. Trust me on that.

i want to convert my lightning 2 buggy to brushless. I would like to stay away from lipo, because while i know theyre good i dont have enough money to get a lipo charger and lipos. My mum would probably freak if i had em in the house aswell, i made the mistake of showing her the video where they blow one up.:019:

tbh i dont know the difference between all these motors, and i dont know how much rpm i should look for. Should i for something with similar rpm to a nitro engine? or something more, and gear it differently?

hehe, yeah i read that. i think i will stick with nicad for now as i have the chargers.

Another noobish question which i am yet to find info on, will the reciever still work! i would of thought with 14 volts it wil just blow up along with the servo. Do you need an electric reciever along with a resistor (i think) inline with the servo?

It wont last long on 14.4 volts, that is true. Just use the RX pack from the nitro

ok, ive just had a quick look at my reciever and and electronic speed controller i have from my gravel hound, i think i can see how it all connects! i think i might test it, so i dont blow up exspensive equipment at a later date.
it shoudl be- ?

Reciever connected to servo and battery (channel 1 + Battery socket)
Channel 2 connects to ESC

Esc connected to motor and Battery?

That motor mount is nothing but a motor clamp for a boat.

Chris Fine is making Electric conversions of Nitro vehicles. He is HELPING THE HOBBY and giving us electric guys a weapon against the onslaught of Nitro. I routinely SCHOOL the Nitro guys at my track with a Fine Design Motor powered E-LSP and some of their drivers also post lap times which put the Nitro guys to shame. Chris, Dan and Keith are at the track every week doing R&D, racing and having a good time. Chris is a Boat champion but he is learning off road VERY quickly and his brother Keith is in all likelyhood the best racer at the track.
