One Pack on 9L/9920 System? -
06.06.2006, 06:43 PM
I have a very nice 9L/9920 system that I usually run in very nice my E-Maxx. But having stripped my wheel hexes out recently, my very nice E-Maxx has been down for a while. Now, I am really wanting something to drive, so I stuck my very nice system into my kinda/sort/a little bit nice Rustler (everything seems to be nice:cool:.). I'm going to try 13 GP3300 cells on it (real easy like on the throttle:026: ) when they get done charging. Now, the question:
What will happen to (is it ok to run) my 9L if I run only 6 or 7 cells on it (I have a jumper for the extra plug). I know the Warrior 9920 is rated for 4 - 20 cells, so it would be ok with it. Someone, I think on the Traxxas forum, said that would fry the system, but I'm kinda skeptical about that. I most likely won't keep the system in my Rustler, but I will for maybe a week or so untill my rims come in. If it is not ok to run it like that, I will just keep with the 13 cells for a while, but I would like something that doesn't require my whole street to run safely:036:.
Thanx a lot guys,
Brijar!!!

On 7 cells it will run but won't run like it does in the maxx. It go but no like you want. I think you be fine. The hexes are the weak stuff with a good brushless system.
Peace!

It won't be spectacular, but it will move with the right gearing. What are you doing for pinion gears? Or does your 9L have a 1/8" shaft?

I've run my e-revo on 6 and 7 cells only. Its not as fast a 13 or 12 but I can still get 1/2 half of runtime and somwhat decent speeds(10-15mph).

Yeah, I've run my E-Revo on 7 cells too and it's obviously not as fast but works OK. I use that mainly in the basement where I don't have the room for 35mph. :)
I imagine the rusty is a bit lighter than an E-Maxx, especially on fewer cells, so that will help too.

Thanks guys. I just got back from running it with the 13 cells, and I have another problem. It ran good, but things kept falling off and it flipped real bad once. It was exceedingly fast though. My new problem is this. You don't have to answer here, but I may start a new thread later. This really drives me nuts because this is the second time it has happened:035::035::035:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FYI: I asked this question just to make sure that it would not harm my system, not to make sure it would go as fast as with 13 cells.
Thanx a lot,
Brijar!!!:019::019::019:

What you thinking rene? The one battery was discharged and the rest was still going strong. It may be possible.

(IB3800's..) i stored them a 1/2 year, and gave them a 1/10th charge every now and them.. but now they are crap..

I had them laying for about 1/2 year.. Every now and then (every month or so) i charged them with 1/10th C for a few hours, just to give them some energy.
When i was charging them entirely on 1/10th C.. 2 cells of 1 pack stayed cold.
Measuring them at a 1C discharge, gave a .3V.... Talk about imbalance. They are soldered by an unexperienced person as well, they have got some 1 mm gaps between them on the side of the bar..
I am having an email conversation with BK at this moment, they claim to give 0 guarantee on soldered cells...
Those are topnotch BK cells, about 10 bucks each.. there goes my faith in their balancing techniques..

Do you think letting them set may have damamged the cells? that is messed up. I don't worry about matched cells for i don't race.
