hello everyone, question about a brushless setup - 06.12.2006, 04:05 PM

hello, I am new, just registered, have been Reading on here a little. I wanted to know if this would be a good set up in a Stampede or a rustler.

The http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...7020controller
Warrior 7020 Brush less Car Controller $129.99
And the
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...ao5408L&cat=20
Feigao brush less motor 540 8s
Would be a good combo.!!!!!

what kinda gearing? something like 14 pinion with 87 spur? what kinda speed do you think it would get..

or what would you suggest, I would like speed, I know I will never get anywhere close to my fathers Revo 3.3 but I drive it and I want to feel like my truck is doing something speed wise, I would like it to have take off speed but it doesn't have to take off like a rocket, I do not want it to do wheelies.

I would like to keep cost down as much as I can. I really don't want a Novak system, thats why I came here,
thanks

In a stock rustler or stampede I think you'll be better off with a Feigao 380C 6L versus the 540 8S. You'll probably be fine with running the 6L on the 7020, but I'd recommend the 9920 for the 8S. I am currently running a 9920/8S combo in my all aluminum FLM Stampede. I'm running 17:87 gearing and clocked a max speed (GPS verified) of 29.8mph on a 6cell GP3300 matched pack. With 9 cells, I should break 40mph easily which should keep up with your dad's Revo.

With a 6L, you should be able to get a tad bit more speed on 6 cells. I can probably give you more info this weekend on that as I have a 6L on the way to go in my relatively stock stampede.

thanks for the replay, I forgot to metion I would be running Gp3300's 6 cells for now in it. 29.8 thats moving pretty darn good.

also with these kinda speeds are they anything that really needs to be upgraded on either truck

My FLM Stampede pretty much has every drivetrain upgrade possible on it. It has MIP CVD's, FLM AL Tranny Case, Traxxas AL Idler, Traxxas Delrin Top gear, Cold Fusion Steel Diff and RPM rear carriers.

The other Stampede I have only has an aluminum idler in it, so I'll know real soon if that'll take the abuse of a 380C 6L. I'm really hoping this weekend to get some good data with it and also with running 9 cells in the FLM Stampede in the picture above.

wow, thats really nice. more money then I would like to have in one truck (since i have hear dtime having what I do have) but thats really nice. I had a alumium, chassis on mine but it kinda got bent, guess shuld have had ti build double thickness. yeah I figured a alumium idler gear, since everyone says to upgrade those. and the steel output shafts, I guess. yeah let us know how it goes with that one.

Says who? My Stampede has gone 54 mph with my Feigao 12s on 12 cells. :028:

But since you want to run just 6 cells, I would go one of two routes:

1) Mtroniks Pro or MGM80 controller with Feigao 380c 6L motor

2) Castle Creations Mamba Maxx system. It should be out in a few days, and I expect it to be the fastest system available with 6 cells.

Btw, wheelies are unavoidable in a pede with brushless power. Use a rustler if you want to minimize the wheelies.

wow 54mph, thats moving, but 12 cells yeah I think the most i would go up to would be 7 cell's.

well if you gear it more for top end and not bottom you can get rid of the wheelies right? plus dont slam the throttle and they dont do it so much or brushless hard not to?

Do not get the 8s. You'll get 30-35 mph on 6 cells, which is no better than what a novak ss5800 can do.

If you are super impatient I would recommend the 380c 6t, 7t, 6l w/ the MGM 80 amp contorller or the novak/reedy combos. All are better than the 8s. Otherwise, the release date of the Mamba max is supposed to be june 15th.

There's no such thing as getting rid of the bottom end torque with brushless. There's torque everywhere. :)

Gustav, a CC rep mentioned the release date on another forum.

I believe the CC rep said that the MSRP would be $249 but that the actual street price would be lower. My guess is that the price will be similar to the Novak Gtb system.

That was W.J. Birmingham that said that over on RCCA. As far as I know, he either owns or works for PMF Distribution, which is the company that sells Apogee batteries, as well as the LiMn 3800mah packs.
