BK 12020 Problems - 06.17.2006, 12:30 AM

Installed a new 12020 controller with a 8XL motor and the throttle seems very exponential instead of linear (it appears to have very little torque). Most of the throttle is useless when accelerating, only the last 1/4 max throttle really makes the truck move fast. When the truck is traveling at high speeds, I jab the throttle (about 1/2 throttle) and the truck has little or no response.

Things I have done:
1. Tried 3 radio systems
2. Cut wire and re-soldiered the system
3. Moved electronics so there will be no interference
4. Always reprogrammed the controller after every step
5. Tried several sized pinions

Could I have rec'd a bad controller?

my 12020 is kinda like that. the last quarter of throttle is like a huge turbo kicking in. the 20120 is programmable, but the 12020 is not. oh well.

That is how my system operates and it is difficult to drive on a track. I have very bad low end throttle response as compared to my nitros. It is very hard to navigate triple double jumps when there is little torque.

I have the BK 12020. I have no problems with it. Runs like a nitro 1/8 buggy accelerates great lots of torque and brakes fine..
I run a Lehner 1950 6turn...
Maybe try a different motor...
hope this helps.

I had a 9920/7XL and the throttle was linear, I had instant power when needed. That is what I expected with the new system, just a little less power w/ added runtime. The new setup acts completely different.

Very dissappointed.....

Maybe you can change it with the programming cable?

If the esc is in non car mode. It will have a funny throttle curve. The warrior and micro can both be in non car mode.

Peace!

Nope, it's not..

It uses a parallel port too (don't know what mac you've got, but the newest don't have got a parallel port anymore) and i don't trust those usb>lpt converters.. Come to think of it.. What controller uses mac compatible software.. Castlecreations doesn't either..

I set my forward throttle EPA on my radio up to 125 and that gave me the instant power that I expected. In any way can this damage my system?

No, it should not damage your system, (it's not that the voltage gets higher or anything, it works with small pulses) but can you try reprogramming it with this new setting?

you never know..
