ok guys i finally got some $$ comin in i already bought my controller (quark 80amper) and ive got a motor but i plan on changing it cause it has a 5mm shaft and thats over kill for my truck. im going to run lipos and i think i finally found my ideal setup:004:

rs4mt( until i make my custom 1/10scale :018: )
these packs http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/tpl...id=TP2000-3SPL (going to run 2 of them wired in parallel)
my motor i have now( but i plan on going with a 380c 7L or 8L if they make em :032:

Are you set on the TP batteries? If you're using those batteries for their really low weight, then I understand. If you don't mind adding a little more weight, you can get some other packs that will perform just as well for half the cost.

Well, what's your size like? Maxamps makes a 2s 6000mah 10C battery that I use in my Tamiya Dark Impact - it's the same size of a 6cell NiMh battery. There are also other companies that sell packs using Enerland cells (Flightpower, Hyperion, PolyRC, Polyquest) that fit well where 6 NiMh cells fit.

I run the Gorilla Chassis, and would like Lipos to be comparable to the 16 cell nimh cells i'm runnin, but i want to drop the weight off. See my sig, would like to hear your suggestion. I would like something cost effective but powerful with speed. Mike suggested 2 5s Lipo packs in parallel, 7400 mah

Mike's idea would work, but wouldn't be too cost effective (IMO at $400). From Maxamps you could get a 2s 6000mah pack and a 3s 6000 pack and run the 2s on the side where the motor is and the 3s on the side opposite the motor (good weight distribution). This setup is only $200.

I plan on running my packs side by side style. so ive only got about 70mm to work with total length. ive only seen 1 pack that will fit were 6sub c's will that i liked and that was the maxxamps 4000mah 3s pack. every other pack that i looked at was 142mm long and 6sub c's arnt 142mm long. the max size i got is 135~ by 45mm by 25mm and i havent found a good pack that will fit in there :002:

Ah, I see. SpeedyBL has a Kokam 3s 3200mah pack that he says is the same size as a 6cell NiMh pack. What are your thoughts on the Maxamps 3s 4000mah?

Yeah, 3200mah isn't much.
Maxamps does a good job with their packs (IMO). My 2s 6000mah pack from them has remained working well, and it has maybe 7 or 8 cycles on it (it'll get a lot more use when I get the Mamba Max). The only thing that I think could be argued against Maxamps is the cells that they use. But even then, Maxamps does usually try to get the better cells for use in their packs.

There's nothing wrong with TP packs, but they are quite expensive. My money will never go toward them because I can get something that has a better performance/cost ratio.

i might go with the 4000mah maxxamps pack but i worry about that amp rating  do you think that would be enuff for basicly a fegiao 8s or there 380c7L do they make a 380c7L? if heard the 6L doesnt like 3s lipos:002:
