Brushless LST Conversion - Looking for Motor Suggestions.

I have done one conversion thus far, my Brushless Losi LST.

It currently runs with a 2 speed emaxx transmission and the Novak HV-Maxx brushless setup. While the Novak setup seems to work ok *haven't had any trouble with thermaling on 12 cells* i'd like something that will feel closer the the speed and power of my Nitro engine.

I'm looking to get the BK Warrior 120amp speed control... But I want a good motor that will carry a fairly heavy - about 13.5lbs - 4wd truck.


Any suggestions for under 300 bux? How about over 300?

There is alot of options. If you mounted a 2240 on it. You would have great power and speed. The 1950 would be a good motor as well. But all of them are over 300 by there self. I would run a xl motor at least. If you run lipo 6s would be great on a 10xl.

Good deal, Now a question for you... Is the BK Electronics 12020 - 120amp control going to be a sufficient setup for about 14-16 cells and the 1950 size lehner motor?

Do you have a good suggestion for a Brushless Control that might be capable and cheaper?

The 120 20 would do. I would go 1950 7turn for the cell count you stated. The 9920 should work but the 12020 has a little insurance level.

I would go for a Quark 125 instead.

I'm running Fieago 7XL on mine. Using BK9920 with fan. and 12 to 18 cells IB4200.. no problems at all. I can run pack after pack.

Aqwut, with the 7xl, more than 12 cells and you don't have heat issues? Pack after pack?

I've been running the following sytem in my maxx for quite some time......here is what I recommend.....I'm sure others will say nay...but it's been very reliable and dependable for me

1920/8 lehner
2095 Micro BEC controller
on 12 cells, but I have gone up as high as 16 cells with no issue....and my maxx at one time weighed in at 13 lbs....

you could allways go with the 20120 Micro..... and a 1920/7....that would be the lowest I would recommend...but my 1920/8 has never let me down....let alone with any heat issues.

1950/7 with the 12020 or quark would be a nice set up. You would have some room to play too.

I like the 1950, but it may be to pricey for me to get it... On the other hand, I guess if I'm gonna build this thing, I should just get a motor that will be a good fit.

Are the Wanderer XL series motors any good? I looked in the store and they are a bit more affordable... Anyone have one of these?

I run one and love it. Kinda wish I woulda bought one of them to begin with instead of the Basic XL and then Feigao XL though....You would be plenty happy with a XL but a 1950 would be the best choice.

Is the Wanderer XL a long can motor.. I don't see any dimensions, can you let me know about the size of the Wanderer?

I believe there about 76mm long. The XL indicates the length. They go from S to L to XL.

Thanks alot. I think that I'm going to try the Wanderer... It's close to what I'm looking for and I can always upgrade in the future.

If I were you, I would get the Feigao C XL. There indentical internally, but the Feigao is a sealed can design with the built in heat sink.
