Bought some steel idlers from eBay. But im' un-sure which brand they are. The hole in the middle has been drilled straight through and a circlip has been used to seperate the bearings if that helps any.
The idler wore down my lightened second gear and it was making my gearbox insanely gritty and covered the inside with metal shavings. I mean covered! My second gear (botom shaft one) now has a kinda cool metal coating. Ultramaxxed on the cheap!
Anyway, what I wanna know is how can some use steel idlers if they wear down the primary gears? Unless the lightened gears or my steel idlers are made of the wrong material?
The ones you got off ebay seem to be idlers that traxxas sells but they are not for emaxx. i bought a set just like those, no bevel for the bearings right? those are not emaxx which is why you had problems. They are for another traxxas product but i could never figure which one. So i returned those. If you need idlers(steel) i may have a set of UE's that are like brand new to let go...pm me if you are interested. I run a single speed Ultrmaxxed gears now...i may be the only one with a single speed ultrmaxxed geared tranny! woo hoo! not sure if anyone else has converted?

I stuck the gears in like that earlier today anyway. It's taken about a month or more of running about 4 packs a week to wear to the point where they become a problem. I have a race meeting this weekend so i'm sure they'll last it.
Squee is right. The light weight shafts are aluminum. If you have the bottom shaft as well it is prone to ringing off. The aluminum idler shafts are good to go.
Peace!
